Robert Tiffen

Robert is a Partner and Solicitor in Ellisons’ Dispute Resolution team, based in Norwich. With around 20 years’ experience, he advises businesses, company directors, shareholders and high-net-worth individuals on a broad range of complex disputes, providing clear, strategic advice focused on achieving the right commercial outcome.

Robert has extensive experience in commercial litigation, acting in matters ranging from shareholder and partnership disputes, contractual and supply chain disagreements, professional negligence claims, and restrictive covenant and team move injunctions. He works closely with clients to help them understand their options, manage risk and resolve disputes in a way that supports their wider commercial objectives.

A specialist in contentious probate, Robert is a full member of the Association of Contentious Trust and Probate Specialists (ACTAPS). He has acted in numerous complex estate disputes involving high-net-worth individuals, including claims concerning testamentary capacity, undue influence and applications under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975. He has particular expertise in cases where business assets form part of an estate, and where conflicts arise between the provisions of a will or trust and a company’s governing documents.

Robert is also recognised for his specialist expertise in franchise disputes and is one of a relatively small number of solicitors nationally with a dedicated practice in this area. He advises both franchisors and franchisees, including national and international brands, on a wide range of contentious franchise matters.
