Catherine Duggan

Catherine is a Solicitor in Ellisons’ Dispute Resolution team, based in Colchester. She supports businesses, organisations, and individuals in resolving complex and high-value commercial disputes efficiently and strategically.

Her expertise covers a wide range of matters including defamation, harassment, breach of contract, shareholder and director disputes, professional negligence, fraud, and misrepresentation. Catherine acts for a diverse client base, from blue-chip companies and SMEs to high-net-worth individuals and international clients, providing clear, practical advice tailored to each client’s commercial objectives.

Clients value Catherine’s straightforward communication, strategic thinking, and hands-on approach. She guides clients through every stage of the litigation process, including County Court and High Court proceedings and appeals, always with a focus on achieving the best possible outcome while minimising disruption to their business.

Catherine trained with Ellisons and qualified as a Solicitor in 2023. She maintains strong ties with the University of Essex, where she earned her Law degree and served as Student Director of the Essex Law Clinic. Alongside her legal practice, Catherine plays an active role in the firm’s Corporate Social Responsibility team, leading pro bono initiatives and building links with local universities to support the wider community.

She is a member of the Professional Negligence Lawyers Association and the Young Fraud Lawyers Association, ensuring her knowledge remains current and clients benefit from up-to-date expertise in her specialist areas.
