Overview of the programme

Vacation Scheme 1 (A Level)

At Ellisons we are committed to supporting future generations of legal professionals.  Our vacation scheme programmes are aimed at individuals who are interested in becoming future Apprentice Solicitors

Our programme is designed to give you a thorough overview of what it is like to work at a leading East Anglian Law Firm.  You will have the opportunity to work within our legal departments alongside everyone from our current Trainees, Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives, including our Partners and Heads of Departments.  You will get the opportunity to gain practical skills through the tasks that will be set for you throughout the vacation scheme.  These tasks are designed to give you an overview of what you can expect to be doing as an Apprentice Solicitor at the firm and would be conducted under the supervision of your Vacation Scheme Supervisor.

We will also give you an opportunity to attend training in areas such as Legal Compliance, Financial awareness, Legal Research, Presentation and Interview skills, together with a chance to practice these skills and receive feedback.

Ellisons has a very friendly, supportive culture so throughout your time with us all of our colleagues at all levels will be available to answer questions and to help you fully integrate into the team.  There will also be an opportunity to attend social events so that you can get to know our teams and current Trainees and Apprentices.

Who the scheme is suitable for:

Vacation Scheme 1 – suitable for candidates studying their A-Levels, or who are predicted 3 A-Levels equivalent to 126 UCAS points, who are considering the Apprentice Solicitor route.

Locations

We aim to offer places on our vacation scheme in the following locations:

• Colchester
• Ipswich
• Chelmsford
• Bury St Edmunds

Applications have now closed.

Shortlisting

Once the application period has closed, we will shortlist applicants and invite them to attend the vacation scheme which is taking place 7^th – 10^th April.  Those who succeed during the vacation scheme will then be offered an interview to progress to the Apprentice Solicitor stage which will take place in May 2026.

Vacation Scheme 2 (Graduates)

At Ellisons we are committed to supporting future generations of legal professionals.  Our vacation scheme programmes are aimed at individuals who are interested in becoming future Trainee Solicitors.

Our week-long programme is designed to give you a thorough overview of what it is like to work at a leading East Anglian Law Firm.  You will have the opportunity to work within our legal departments alongside our current Trainees, Solicitors and Chartered Legal Executives, as well as our Partners, Legal Directors and Heads of Departments.  You will get the opportunity to gain practical skills through the tasks that will be set for you throughout the vacation scheme.  These tasks are designed to give you an overview of what you could expect to be doing as a Trainee Solicitor and would be conducted under the supervision of your Vacation Scheme Supervisor.

We will also give you an opportunity to attend training in areas such as Legal Compliance, Financial awareness, Legal Research, Presentation and Interview skills, together with a chance to practice these skills and receive feedback.

Who the scheme is suitable for:

Vacation Scheme 2 – suitable for graduates who are considering the Trainee Solicitor route.

Shortlisting

Once the application period has closed, we will shortlist applicants and invite successful candidates to attend the vacation scheme, which will take place between 13^th – 17^th July 2026.  Candidates who demonstrate high performance during our Vacation Scheme will be put forward for an interview for a training contract with Ellisons.
