Samuel Flower

Samuel is a Senior Associate in the Rural Affairs team at Ellisons in the Colchester office but acts for clients across the East of England. He specialises in Wills, Trusts, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate for farming clients.

With nearly a decade of experience, Samuel advises farming (& non-farming) clients in the agricultural sector. He has expertise across all areas of private client, including an element of contentious probate matters. He assists by advising individuals and families on future planning, supporting clients through bereavement and helping to manage the transition of farming businesses and partnerships between generations.

Samuel has worked through multiple challenging events for his clients including the pandemic and recent changes to Agricultural & Business Property Relief (APR/BPR), all of which have presented complex and time sensitive challenges to navigate. Without his tenacious attitude then his clients could have potentially faced significant tax liabilities of multiple millions. The resulting savings have meant that farming families and businesses have secured a future for the next generation, together with continued investment into their farms.

Samuel always ensures that the support he provides for farming families and their businesses have a tailored and thoughtful approach taking into account all aspects of any decisions.

Samuel is a Solicitor of England and Wales regulated by the SRA. He obtained an LLB Law degree from Anglian Ruskin with first class honours; following completion of this he then went onto compete his Legal Practice Course at the University of Law passing with a distinction.
