Sophie Rayner-Gernon

Sophie Rayner-Gernon is an Apprentice Solicitor bases in the Colchester office working within the Private Client, Rural Affairs Department.

After completing her A-levels in Law, Criminology, History and Finance, Sophie joined Ellisons in 2025 as a Level 7 Degree Apprentice. Alongside working, she is studying towards her LLB (Hons) in Law and Legal Practice at BPP.

Since joining Ellisons, Sophie has built hands‑on experience across a broad range of private client matters, including drafting Wills, preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney, and assisting with Probate and Estate Administration files. She regularly supports fee earners and works closely with clients to progress matters efficiently and sensitively. Alongside her client work, Sophie balances full‑time study for her LLB (Hons) with practical legal training, demonstrating strong time management, commitment, and professional development within a busy rural and private client practice.

Sophie takes a client‑focused and empathetic approach, recognising that private client matters are often personal and sensitive. She aims to communicate clearly and keep clients well informed.
