The Mercury Theatre and Ellisons Solicitors are excited to continue their partnership as Ellisons returns as the Mercury’s headline Pantomime Sponsors, for the second year in a row.
The local solicitors, with roots in Colchester – including their head office – for 260 years, is supporting the Mercury to deliver their biggest Mercury Production of the year!
The sponsorship sits at the heart of Ellisons commitment to their local community and the firm understands the importance of the arts and culture on community cohesion and people’s wellbeing, as well as the importance of making Colchester and the wider area a great place to live and work.
Guy Longhurst, Managing Partner, Ellisons Solicitors says: “The Mercury Theatre is a very important part of our city, and we are very lucky to have such a leading arts venue on our doorstep. We are committed to supporting local organisations who benefit our community and lives of local residents, so we are very excited to once again be sponsoring this year’s fantastic pantomime production. We were lucky enough to watch the production earlier this month and it was even more impressive than last year! A big thank you and congratulations to the cast, crew and the whole team at the Mercury. A privilege to support such a brilliant and talented group of people.”

Ellisons Colchester Head Office received a surprise visit by the Mercury’s returning pantomime duo, Antony Stuart-Hicks (Sherry Smee) & Dale Superville (Smee). They toured the office, took over reception and generally caused mischief as they met and chatted to staff.
Steve Mannix, Executive Director, Mercury Theatre says: “We are so grateful to Ellisons for continuing their support of the Mercury’s iconic pantomime, this year’s being The New Adventures of Peter Pan. The support of our panto allows us to produce other work throughout the year – we depend on the income made from this show, so having support from local business is very much appreciated and makes a huge difference. The show has been very successful so far and we loved hosting Ellisons colleagues and their families in early December to share in the joy that pantomime brings to all ages!”
The Mercury Theatre’s pantomime this year, The New Adventures of Peter Pan, runs until 19 January, written by David Phipps-Davis and directed by and starring “the best Dame in the country” (British Theatre) Antony Stuart-Hicks. Tickets are in high demand with lots of performances already sold out, best availability is in January. Audiences are encouraged to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
